My Dear old dad rip
Passed away at the Weekend.

Came over from Ireland and met my mum at the Buffalo Club in Camden. So of you may know it as the Electric Ballroom. Back then it was a dance hall, and my dad used to play the drums in an Irish band (way before Ed Sheeran).and pulled her.

When they were stepping out mum worked over in Plaistow Hospital was it was then. Dad would go up to see her and whilst waiting for shift to end would pop into West Ham to catch a game.

Eventually they got married and moved over to Chiswick.

Had 4 boys and brought us all up to follow West Ham.

Told us they played football the right way. Passed down to me and now my son

His favourite player in later years was Sir Trev,as apart from being a great footballer was a gent.

My dad was a real gent. Thanks dad rip.

Nice comments about your Dad yngwies Cat, good memories.

Very sad when your parents go, but its the cycle of life. Hold on to the good times as WD says and keep smiling, laughing and enjoying like life, thats what they want.

Life is never the same when you loose a love one
everyday is different from the second they go.

But sit back and think of the good times mate .

Some great recollections of my fellow Hammers going to watch West Ham with their Dad's. I am a tad envious and feel somewhat cheated that my old man didn't like football and obviously had no interest in West Ham. Despite that my Dad was my hero and I have many great memories of him like YC and the rest of you.

I suppose I only have myself to blame for supporting West Ham and the roller coaster ride that comes with it!

So sorry for your loss, think of all the good stuff and the times he made you laugh.
I really miss my dad, and when I’m watching West Ham he’s as close as ever. I always said him bringing me up West Ham was the greatest gift and the biggest burden!
He’d say supporting West Ham keeps you grounded, you’ll never expect too much from life!
Enjoy your memories of him, sounds like he was a lovely man. Condolences to you all.

Sorry for your loss mate, and cheers to a great life for your Dad.

Lost my dad 3 years ago now, and he also taught me to love football and driving. Those are the things I remember and miss the most about him

what a lovely story and sentiment. Used to go to the electric ballrooms in the 80's listening to jaaaaaaaz fusion wearing my diamond pringle jumper, mostly after watching west ham - what days

May he rest in peace

Sorry to hear about your Dad YC, he sounds a lovely bloke, it's devastating when you lose a parent, especially one you were obviously so close to. I lost my Dad 37 years ago but still think about and talk to him every day.
Take care and remember all the happy times you had with him with your brothers and family.

In the cases where you can’t get to see loved ones before they pass due to COVID is shocking. What an awful end and truly sad. I can’t imagine how that would feel.
